U15s IN GOOD FORM

The U15s good run of form continues as they won 5-1 at Chailey & Newick with goals from Arghend Rexhmati (2), Jacob Sargeant and Sean Murray (2). Plenty of goals on the smaller pitches too where the U8s U9Ys and U10s all recorded wins, but top performers with two wins this week are the U7s with 2-1 and 6-4 successes, Kai Vieira and Alfie Chaytor-Grubb both in the goals there.

Yesterday the Mens Team defeated Mayfield from two divisions higher 5-1 in the third round of the Sussex Junior Cup to keep up their unbeaten record, with goals there from George Wheeler (2), Phil Broom, George Sambrook and Tom Wilding.

The Mini Teams now all take a break from matches until mid January (apart from the U9Ys who never rest!), but most of the 9 and 11-a-side teams still have fixtures next Sunday.

CHAPECOENSE

Well done to all our teams today who observed a minutes silence in memory of the players and officials of Brazilian side Chapecoense who so tragically lost their lives in an air crash this week.

U12 HEROES x 2

Every single team was in action today and a load of good performances, with notable wins for the U7s, U8s, U9Ys, U14s and U18s.

But the teams deserving all the plaudits this week are the 2 U12 teams. The U12Ys, who include a number of U11 aged players in their ranks, have lost every game since their inception this season and would not have been given a chance going into their game against Polegate Grasshoppers having lost to them 5-0 earlier this season - but a clean sheet and a goal from Matthew Welham secured a famous and much enjoyed 1-0 victory. Meanwhile the U12Bs (pictured) who have also had a tough season lifted themselves off the bottom of the league table by outplaying and beating leaders Eastbourne Town 2-1.

And yesterday the Mens Team had another big win as they saw off Parkfield 6-0 with goals from Jack Griffin, George Wheeler, Robbie Callingham, Aaron Brindley, Tom Wilding and an OG, and are now 9 points clear at the top at the halfway point in the league season.

U15’s COME FROM BEHIND TO WIN…AND MENS TEAM IN THE GOALS AGAIN

Not many games survived the storms this morning, but one that did was the U15s who put up a great fight back to come from 2-0 down at half time to defeat Patcham Utd 3-2, and maintain their challenge at the top of the table, where just one point seperates the top three. Today’s goals were scored by Sean Murray (2) and Chris Scott-McWall.

Meanwhile yesterday the Mens Team are 7 points clear at the top of the table after thrashing second placed Hawkhurst Utd 7-1, goals there from Jack Murphy, George Wheeler, Phil Broom and George Sambrook (3).

Lets hope it’s a little dryer next weekend!

A MINUTE’S SILENCE - THEN THE FOOTBALL

All teams impeccably observed a minute’s silence for Remembrance Sunday this morning (pictured U8s and U10s) - then got down to the football.

Top result of the day came from the U15s with a 3-2 victory over Hailsham Town, which included a first ever goal for Alfie Astbury. Special mention also to the U12Y’s who despite defeat put in their best performance of the season.

And a fine performance also the U9 Development squad with a draw and a loss at Premier Utd - this newly formed squad was started this season to take in the increasing number of  children we have at this age group, and already we have enough to start playing some games (this their third). All credit to manager Michael Grant for attracting new players and helping them improve so fast - new playing kit for them is on order and should arrive soon.

U8’s ARE ONLY WINNERS TODAY

Some very close games out there today, especially for the U14s, U15s and U18s, but the only winners today were the U8s who managed to get 3 games in against Polegate Grasshoppers - and won them all, Kenny Stubbs top scoring with 5 across the 3 games.
